mini ciabatta pizzas

i love pizza!

but sometimes, it` just nicer to make pizza from scratch (minus the baking the bread part!) instead of buying a frozen box or spending a fortune at Dominos. so, to make up for the fact that i hadn`t really eaten anything today, i decided that i fancied a pizza - but with a twist.

so, i bought a ciabatta roll, some mozzarella balls and some tomatoes - and made mini ciabatta pizzas!

ingredients:

  • ciabatta roll
  • mozzarella ball
  • large tomato
  • tomato puree
  • (any extra ingredients you would like!)

utensils:
  • oven
  • baking tray
  • sharp knife
  • oven gloves
  • butter knife
  • plate
recipe:
  • pre-heat oven
  • while oven is warming up, chop tomato into round slices and mozzarella ball into round slices

  • once oven is warmed up, place the ciabatta roll onto a baking tray and warm through on gas 6 for 10-15 mins
  • once the ciabatta has warmed through, take it out of the oven and slice with a sharp enough knife. you can either slice into small round slice, or half the ciabatta roll length-ways so you`re left with two long ciabatta pieces; either way would work. *beware when slicing the warm bread - it`s really hot!*

  • leave the oven on
  • spread tomato puree onto the ciabatta slices
  • divide the mozzarella slices onto the ciabatta slices
  • divide the tomato slices on top

  • (add any extra ingredients you like!)
  • place back onto the baking tray and back into the oven. leave in to allow the mozzarella to soften and melt. this usually takes another 5-8 mins (you could grill the mozzarella, but the edges of the ciabatta bread tend to burn - warming through in the oven takes slightly longer but is worth it!)
  • take out once the mozzarella has melted and place on a pretty tray! (sharing is totally optional!!!)
